Given that our feet and ankles bear the weight of our entire body, when something goes wrong, it can make everyday activities difficult or even impossible.
Many of our patients who have had no success with surgery, nerve block, epidurals, steroid injections, trigger point injections, and even chiropractic therapy and acupuncture, find relief for the first time after receiving treatments at the Magaziner Center.
Some of the more common foot and ankle conditions we’ve successfully treated include:
- Morton’s neuroma: Pain in the ball of the foot, often described as feeling as if there is a pebble in your shoe, usually between the third and fourth toes. This sensation is caused by a thickening of the tissue that surrounds the nerves that lead to the toes.
- Plantar fasciitis: Heel pain, often, worse in the morning when you get out of bed and your feet first hit the floor. It occurs when the plantar fascia, the thick band of tissue that runs from the heel bone to the toes, becomes inflamed.
- Achilles tendonitis: The Achilles tendon connects the muscles of your calf to your heel bone. It’s the largest tendon in the body, and may become inflamed through overuse, arthritis or ill-fitting shoes.
- Hallux limitus and hallux rigidus: These conditions involve restriction of movement, swelling, pain and stiffness in the big toe.
How they treat it
Drugs and surgery are the usual go-to remedies mainstream medial doctors use for foot and ankle pain. Taking drugs to mask the pain, even familiar ones like aspirin or acetaminophen, carry plenty of risks on their own, including harm to the liver and stomach, bleeding, kidney and heart problems. Treating any joint pain with a painkiller or anti-inflammatory drug may offer some immediate relief, but it’s not a solution.
How we treat it
At the Magaziner Center for Wellness, we treat foot and ankle pain holistically, by learning where the problem originated and working to heal it from the inside. Using prolotherapy, Prolozone®, platelet-rich plasma and cellular regenerative therapies, we accelerate and enhance the body’s natural healing process. We often treat patients who have already been through the gamut of mainstream medicine and are still in pain. Many are able to finally find relief after receiving treatments fro our bag of tricks at the Magaziner Center.
